5 Easy Steps to Writing Articles that Make you Money!
By: Kristie Tamsevicius

Writing articles is truly a powerful and effective promotion tool for your business. Besides being absolutely free to do, it works in a number of ways to boost your business. First of all, an article positions you as the answer man, a true authority in your field. And it's more credible than advertising because it's a news source. Next, it will drive traffic to your site. More traffic, means you get more sales! And finally it boosts your page rank with the search engines because of the incoming links pointing to your website.

Here's 5 Easy Steps to Get Started

1) Write an information rich article. Make sure it doesn't sound like a commercial. Cover a topic that your readers will really find interesting. Think, "what do I know that I could help someone with? What are some of the top problems that drive people like me crazy?" The more fun and interesting you make the article the better.

Also a fun, friendly tone makes a better read. In your mind when you write, picture that you are writing the article to a personal friend. When you write as though you are writing for that one person, you create a warm and fuzzy sense of intimacy that all readers will feel. Finally, adding short personal stories to illustrate each point, makes the article much more thrilling to read!

2) Break your article into short sections. You'll want an intro, a body broken into bullet points or steps, and a conclusion. By chunking your article into subsections, it makes it easier for the reader to scan.

3) Create a short, punchy title that grabs their attention. Remember, if the title doesn't sound exciting, no one will bother to read it.

4) Spell check and grammar check it. Here's where having a friend to proof it will help. It's really hard to catch your own typos.

5) Craft a byline that tells readers who you are, what you do, and a bit about your business. Try to keep this down to 4-5 lines. By alluding that the reader can learn more about the topic on your website, you lead readers from the article right to your website. Something like this:

5) Promote your article! You can publish it in your ezine, article directories, article promotion lists, and article syndication feeds! And don't just limit yourself to online article submission. While you are at it, see if the local paper could use an article or two? Also look for websites related to your topic that might want to post your article.

Summary: Aside from referrals, writing and submitting articles has been the #1 most effective promotion technique I have used for my business. I hope you've been inspired to put pen to paper and put the fabulous power of articles to work for your business!
